Tweetbacks Helper WordPress Plugin

Tweetbacks Helper is a helper Plugin for Tweetbacks Plugin to help it detect more tweets.

This Plugin can disable Pseudo cron scheduler by Tweetbacks and replace it with its own scheduler, that can be invoked by pinging a url.

This Plugin also lists the short urls detected by Tweetbacks and allows you to add your own short urls if you are using your own url shortening service.

You can download the Plugin as a zip file from the WordPress Plugin repository.

Extract the zip file and just drop the contents in the wp-content/plugins/ directory of your WordPress installation and then activate the Plugin from Plugins page. You also need to install the Tweetbacks Plugin by Yoast for this Plugin to work.

first of all thanks for your plugin. I think it’s great.
Nevertheless I have a problem. In your plugin’s backend you write

“For manual cron scheduler to work, you should ping the following url from your crontab.

How do I do this? I have searched Google and some stuff about the cron syntax, but can’t find a solution. I use “Crontrol” as a WP plugin so I could enter it quite conveniently – if I only know, how.

    Kind regards,

    P.S. I use WP 3.0.5

  • I love Disqus but unfortunately, “reactions” are currently not working on my most recent website ( Tweetbacks was suggested to me as a resolution. I see Tweetbacks hasn’t been updated in years but your Helper is new. I am not attempting the manual cron for now – will it still work if the tweetbacks scheduler is enabled?

I also found Yoast’s implementation for Tweetbacks which I have not attempted since it addresses a very different version of WordPress. Note: of course I completely respect Yoast.

I added you to my Twitter list for WordPress.

Thank you for your contributions to the community!

Yes, it should work if the tweetbacks scheduler is enabled. I contacted the original author Yoast lot of times and offered to provide updates to his Plugin but didn’t get any reply from him.

I am also currently working on a Plugin which will be very robust in retrieving the reactions from twitter. It is in the final stages of development. I will release it once I am done.

Just curios if this plugin and the original Tweetbacks plugin are still working?
